The Dumbwaiter's Best Bites of the Week

 

 

Homeslice

 

The Wogan brother's pizzeria group has always been a favourite of the Dumbwaiter and to celebrate its sixth anniversary since opening in Neal's Yard, they've released six special edition pizzas for each of their London locations. Although the Atlantic lobster pizza was utterly unreal, it was the fresh black truffle, gubbeen and ogleshield cheese pizza at its City location that stole the show for the Dumbwaiter.

 

 

 

Taste of London

 

The CODE team braved the weather on Wednesday evening to head over to Regent's Park for Taste of London. In between the glasses of champagne, The Dumbwaiter & Co made the rounds of the food offering; smoked meatballs from Smoke & Salt, devilled chilli squid from Hoppers, a plate of Chotto Matte's famous ceviche and Berenjak's Jujeh Kebab. It was then off to The Albany pub on Great Portland Street for the after party for one or two (or three) more Gin & Tonics.

 

 

 

Sette

 

New York restaurant imports haven't always had the biggest success in London but LDV Hospitality's Sette - that recently opened in Knightsbridge - looks to have bucked that trend by taking elements of Scarpetta in Manhattan over the pond. So often with Italian food it's all about simplicity, and their spaghetti with tomato and basil is the one to order. Pair it with a glass of Italian red.

 

 

 

BOB's Lobster

 

London Bridge and Borough have always had a presence when it comes to food and restaurants in London, but the postcode is constantly on the up with the likes of BAO and the soon-to-open Flor. Bob's Lobster - tucked behind the station in one of the railway arches - has quietly been serving great seafood since the beginning of the year. Be sure to order their lobster and crayfish brioche roll.

 

 

 

The River Café

 

A rare double when the Dumbwaiter and Lazy Susan went to the River Café to celebrate fabled Sunday Times critic AA Gill. A special menu featured ravioli with courgette, buffalo ricotta and basil, then roast turbot and the classic lemon tart for pudding, in fact, many lemon tarts are there were more than 100 guests. The meal was interspersed with readings from Gill’s essays which meant appetites were heightened by laughter and tears.
